Apartment with completely independent entrance in small, quiet village in the northern Italian mountains (800m asl), 80km (50 miles) north of Verona, 27km (16 miles) from Lake Garda, 90km (56 miles) from the Dolomites. 1st floor furnished apartment: lounge with wood-burning stove (wood supplied) and door onto balcony, 2 bedrooms (1x double, 1 x single), fully equipped kitchen with dining table and doors onto balcony and terrace, bathroom. The house is cool in the summer when the valley gets unbearably hot, especially in July and August; in winter there is snow on the mountains behind the village, it sometimes snows in the village but doesn't usually stay and doesn’t disrupt the traffic. The village overlooks the Adige Valley and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, excellent for walking of all levels of difficulty, from short strolls on quiet paths to long mountain climbs. The beech forests around the village are stunning in autumn. There is a beautiful lake – Lago di Cei - about 5 minutes by car or 45 minutes on foot through fields, orchards and woods, which is fabulous for swimming in the summer (it’s much less crowded and more peaceful than Lake Garda). It’s a great location for rock climbers, too: there are 2 uncrowded crags in short walking distance from the house, while Arco is about 50 minutes away. There are 3 ski resorts (downhill, cross-country & snowboarding, as well as snowshoeing) just under an hour's drive away. The village has a small supermarket and a small bar/café. There is an excellent twice-weekly food market in Rovereto on Tuesdays (main market) and Saturdays. Nearby are a couple of refuges serving food in the day and evening, 1 - 1 ½ hour walk or short drive. The village is in the heart of the Vallagarina wine country and there are lots of good restaurants in the area serving everything from simple to gourmet meals, including vegetarian. Excellent pizzeria in the next village down the mountain. The road up to the village, the lake and the pass above the village are not jammed with tourist traffic so make for pleasant short drives with superb views. It takes about an hour and a half to drive to the Dolomites (Val di Fassa), and about 50 minutes to Lake Garda, Verona (airport), or Bolzano. The nearest town and station is Rovereto (15 mins), the nearest city Trento (a half hour drive). Unless you want to stay around the village, a car is needed as there are only 3 or 4 buses to the valley a day and none on Sundays. Gas, electric etc. included. No agency fees.
